We offer a complete line up of transmission services from filter changes and fluid flushes to diagnostics and unit repair to complete overhaul and remanufactured replacement units carrying a full 3 year or 100,000 mile warranty.* We also offer manual transmission fluid changes and clutch replacements.  By far the most mechanically complex component in today's vehicles is the automatic transmission.  Using multiple clutch packs, gears, solenoids, bearings, and a multitude of other components it's a wonder these things even work.  It's also a reason to make sure you keep your transmission serviced on a regular basis.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The automatic transmission is an engineering masterpiece.  It also carries a hefty price tag if it fails.  The single most important thing that can be done to prevent extremely costly repairs is fluid and filter changes.  It is important to do more than just drop the pan and change the filter.  Only about 30% of the fluid is changed in this manner.  To completely flush the system, proper equipment must be used.  We are fully equipped to service almost any automatic transmission.  Most manufacturers suggest fluid replacement around 60,000 miles, but check your owners manual to be sure.  We offer fluid flushes, filter changes, and complete transmission replacements.  We do not rebuild transmissions at this time.
Common transmission problems result from poor fluid maintenance resulting in burned clutches, fluid leaks, and age.  With proper maintenance and care, an automatic transmission can last longer than 250,000 miles.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH
The manual transmission can be just as complex and in some cases more expensive to replace than its automatic counterpart.  Just as important is regular maintenance including fluid changes and leak repairs.  The manual transmission must have a clutch assembly to disengage the engine from the wheels when the vehicle is not moving.  The clutch uses a master cylinder attached to the clutch pedal, a slave cylinder in or on the transmission, and lines connecting the two. The system uses common brake fluid. A cable operated system uses a cable in place of the cylinders and lines.
Clutch problems include fluid leaks and clutch friction disc wear.  Occasionally the pressure plate can become weak and cause the clutch to slip.  A worn friction disc exhibits the same symptom.

TRANSFER CASE
The transfer case is responsible for distributing power to the front and rear wheels on a four wheel drive vehicle.  Two wheel drive vehicles don't have transfer cases.  The transfer case houses the chain and gear network that allows the driver to select between 2 and 4 wheel drive.  In some cases there is a clutch inside the transfer case that is computer controlled.  This clutch is found on systems that use automatic 4 wheel drive and on some all wheel drive vehicles.
Most common problems are fluid leaks and drive chain slippage or breakage.

DIFFERENTIALS AND AXLES
The front and rear driving axles are relatively simple in comparison to the transmission; however, once again, they are very labor intensive to repair if something goes wrong.  Fluid changes and visual inspection of seals and driveshaft U-joints are critical to making sure you don't have to spend a load overhauling the differential assembly.  It is very critical to ensure the proper fluid type is used as the wrong type or viscosity of fluid will cause premature failure.
