MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Listed here are some of the maintenance services we offer. Performing scheduled maintenance on your vehicle will help to prevent costly and inconvenient breakdowns. COOLANT FLUSH
As a vehicle's engine coolant ages, it loses its ability to protect from freezing, its ability to transfer heat, and it's ability to protect from corrosion. Regular coolant flushes must be performed to prevent costly engine damage. During a coolant flush service, a flushing agent is added to the coolant before flushing to clean deposits from system. After the cleaner is added, the engine is run for 15 to 20 minutes and then all cleaner and old coolant is flushed from the system and replaced with fresh clean coolant using a flush machine.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUSH
Read your owner's manual for information on the flushing of the automatic transmission fluid. Most Manufacturers will recommend fluid and filter changes, however it varies from vehicle to vehicle when this service is recommended and a select few don't recommend transmission service at all. If in doubt, call us! We have the information available and can tell you when your vehicle should have this service.
Changing just the filter is only half the battle! When the transmission pan is removed for filter change, only about 30% of the fluid is changed. For this reason, special equipment must be used to completely flush all the fluid from the transmission itself, the torque converter, and the cooler and lines.
PLEASE NOTE: If your transmission is having problems, we do not recommend fluid service. This can actually make the problems worse. On older, worn transmissions, the old, worn out fluid that has lost its lubricity can be the only thing holding the transmission together. The automatic transmission has several wet clutch packs (clutches submerged in fluid) and if fresh clean fluid is installed that has all of its lubrication properties intact, it can cause components to begin slipping. We do not recommend transmission services on transmissions with excessively high mileage that have not been regularly serviced or units that are having problems. This service is intended for maintenance purposes only.
POWER STEERING FLUSH
During a power steering flush, we will use a flushing agent to clean deposits and varnish from system components, then the cleaner and old fluid will be flushed out and new fluid installed. This service is important to prolong the life of the expensive steering gear (rack and pinion or recirculating ball type) and the power steering pump. All components of the system will be inspected for leakage and damage.
TIRE ROTATION
One of the simplest ways you can prolong the life of your tires is to rotate them every 6,000 miles. During tire rotation is also a great time for our technician to check the brakes. Tire pressure and tire condition will also be checked and adjusted as necessary.
ENGINE TUNE UP
A basic tune up consists of spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, fuel filter, and air filter. If not properly maintained, engine runnability concerns will arise such as misfire, poor fuel economy, and low power. If a misfire is left untreated, the raw fuel that is not ignited in the engine will end up in the catalytic converter and will burn there. The deposits can clog the converter, restricting the exhaust and causing more engine problems. Not all vehicles have all the parts listed above. WINTERIZATION
If properly maintained, your vehicle will not require any special winterization. It's always a good idea to check the tires and the antifreeze prior to the cold season as bald tires don't go well in the snow and if the antifreeze does freeze in the engine, catastrophic damage WILL result. These checks and many others are included in our oil change service which is perfect to make sure your vehicle is ready for the winter season!
